Job Description 

  • You will be responsible for the public relations aspect of the airline.
  • You should build and sustain the company’s reputation for quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
  • You should supervise all communication sent to the public and oversee and organize events that will make an impact to the airline target audience and ensure the design and implementation of advertising campaigns that promote our company are appropriate.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise the execution and of management tactical activities related to events of the airline, event calendar, staff activities, and inter-organizational activities;
  • Planning, organizing and delivery of all external and internal events, sponsored functions, exhibitions, fairs, conferences, product launches as well as social events.
  • Ensure Rwandair presence at sponsored events
  • Coordinate media buying and media monitoring for all advertisements placed in print, outdoor broadcast, online outlets
  • Working with agency colleagues to devise advertising campaigns that meet our budget.
  • Coordinate and supervise all operations namely the negotiation with vendors and suppliers, hiring necessary personnel, promotional activities for the event
  • Ensure event is completed smoothly and step up to resolve any problems that might occur
  • Analyze the event’s success and prepare reports
  • Work closely with the event coordinator in researching and recommending events that are necessary for Rwandair to be involved in
  • Coordinate and supervise all communications activities of the airline
  • Supervise the development and maintenance of regular publications such as newsletters releases and email announcements, in-flight magazine for both internal and external communities
  • Supervise the preparation and dispatch of press releases
  • Supervise the airline’s social media accounts and constantly develop creative content optimized for search engines and designed aimed for brand awareness, increased audience;
  • Ensure effective media coverage of the airline events/initiatives on traditional and new media
  • Coordinate media buying and media monitoring for all advertisements placed in print, outdoor broadcast, online outlets
  • Ensure public views the organization favourably for increased customer retention and loyalty.
  • Develop and maintain positive media and public relation portraying RwandAir as a responsible corporate citizen
  • Monitor online and offline ad campaigns (e.g. on radio, TV, websites, magazines and billboards)
  • Regularly report advertising campaign results (including revenues and costs)
  • Optimize advertising strategies for varying audiences and channels
  • Manage the airline’s brand and reputation from strategic planning to tactical activities;
  • Other duties as assigned 

Key Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Communications, Media management, marketing and other related fields with at least 2 years work experience in this field or a Bachelor’s degree in the mentioned fields with at least 4 years work experience
  • Demonstrates effective leadership skills.
  • Understanding of budget preparation and management
  • Must be fluent in English and French
  • Demonstrates effective leadership skills
  • Have good written and verbal communication skills
  • Team-oriented with healthy and positive attitude
  • Proficiency with general office PC applications (i.e. word processing, spreadsheets, databases)
  • Must be flexible with working days, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to establish priorities and manage time effectively
  • Must be able to work under pressure
